The following is a closer look at some of the natural ingredients that make Honeymark’s Pain Relief Cream an effective, topical analgesic.
Honeymark International is a manufacturer of advanced skin care products that has developed a revolutionary formula of ingredients effective in relieving pain. Their Pain Relief Cream is a combination of ingredients that are extraordinarily effective in treating painful symptoms such as arthritis, strains, backaches, sprains, joint and muscle stiffness, etc. Below are some of the ingredients that make this product an effective pain management solution.
Manuka Honey
Manuka Honey is becoming a popular ingredient in treating arthritis pain due to its anti-inflammatory properties and curative capacity. It has the ability to minimize joint swelling and acts as a natural pain killer. Manuka Honey is derived from the nectar of the flowers that grow on the Tea Tree, native to New Zealand.
Camphor
Camphor is an ingredient that is used topically to relieve pain. It is absorbed through the skin, creating a cooling effect that acts as a slight local anesthetic. Camphor can be used externally to relieve arthritic pain, rheumatic pain, neuralgia and back pain. Camphor is found in the wood of the Camphor Laurel, which is a large evergreen tree found in Asia.
Menthol
Menthol stimulates the cold receptors in the skin, producing a natural cooling effect. It doesn’t actually change the skin’s temperature, but merely produces the sensation of a cooler temperature change. Menthol is used as a topical analgesic to relieve minor aches and pains such as muscle cramps, sprains, headaches and similar conditions. Menthol is an organic compound made from peppermint or other mint oils.
Emu oil
Emu Oil is used as a pain reliever for bone, muscle and joint disorders. It is a complete neutral lipid, since emu oil lacks phospholipid, making it highly penetrating to the skin. Emu oil is used as a natural analgesic and is effective in treating arthritis and other pains due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Emu oil is an oil made from the refined fat of the emu which is a bird native to Australia.
Almond Oil
Almond oil is one of the least greasy oils. It has been traditionally used by massage therapists to lubricate the skin and is considered to be an effective emollient because of its ability to soften and soothe the skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties making it effective in relieving muscle pain. Almond Oil is obtained from the dried kernel of the almond plant.
Arnica Extract
Extract of Arnica is an excellent first-aid for sprains. Arnica Extract has anti-inflammatory properties and is effective when used on bruises, strains, sprains & sore muscles. Arnica assists the normal healing processes by facilitating transport of blood and fluid accumulations through a dilating action of subcutaneous blood capillaries. This ingredient is the extract from the Arnica montana plant.
Balm Mint Extract
Balm mint extract is known for its soothing and toning properties and is made from the dried leaves of the balm mint plant.
Aloe Barbadensis Extract
Soothing and healing are the best chiral components of aloe. There are different components that account for its effectiveness. Mannose Phosphate is the healer, Hydroxy Chromone and Methyl Phytyl Chromanol are the antioxidants and Methyl Tocol is the anti-inflammatory compound.
Witch Hazel Extract
Witch hazel is used externally on sores, bruises and swelling. The astringent tannins in witch hazel tighten and soothe aching varicose veins and reduce inflammation in cases of phlebitis (an inflammation of a vein). Witch hazel also contains procyanadins, resin and flavonoids, all of which add to its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties.
Plantain Extract
Plantain extract has a relaxing and inhibiting effect on aortic and portal smooth muscles.
“All of the ingredients combined in our Pain Relief Cream make it as effective as it is,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “Topical analgesics that don’t have the same ingredients will simply not be as effective.”

New Manuka Honey Products
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Honeymark has launced an expanded line of Manuka Honey products to include the following:
Anti-Wrinkle Serum
Manuka Honey is very good for the skin due to the presence of vitamins and antioxidants. Manuka Honey’s ability to absorb and retain moisture make it an ideal natural ingredient as it helps keep skin hydrated and fresh. In fact, history shows that ancient beauties regularly applied a mixture of honey and milk to the face to keep their skin looking young, radiant and smooth. Honey’s natural antioxidant and antimicrobial properties help to protect the skin from the damage of the sun’s rays while supporting the skin’s ability to rejuvenate and refresh depleted skin. Exposure to the sun is the number one cause of wrinkles. Manuka Honey has a moisturizing and nourishing effect on the skin which helps elasticity and texture. There may be no better way to bring a smooth glow to your skin than by using Manuka Honey.
Acne Cream
Manuka Honey has the ability to absorb impurities from the pores in the skin, making it an ideal cleansing agent. It’s especially effective in fading red marks and killing bacteria. The cause of acne infection is a bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes. The pores or follicles in the skin become blocked, preventing the sebum from escaping to the surface and the acne bacteria infects the trapped sebum. This leads to an increase in white blood cells in the localized area of the follicle blockage resulting in inflammation, redness and pain. With regard to acne, Manuka Honey is effective in a number of ways. Manuka Honey penetrates the epidermis of the acne infection far better than synthetic medications. Once at the seat of the acne infection, it quickly controls the acne bacteria. The presence of Manuka Honey also helps to break up and release the blockage of individual follicles leading to the cause of acne. Manuka Honey’s anti-inflammatory action helps to eliminate any pain present.
Antiseptic Spray
With the recent spread of antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA, Honeymark offers a preventative measure to reduce the risk of Staph infections. This product contains Benzalkonium Chloride and Active Manuka Honey as antibacterial agents. It can be used to spray on cuts, scrapes and abrasions to heal and prevent infection for a much more convenient application than ointments and other disinfectants. Manuka Honey has the ability to draw moisture out of bacterial cells, making it impossible for them to survive. This osmotic effect makes active Manuka Honey one of the most effective antibacterial agents available. Manuka Honey is also antimicrobial which makes it effective in healing both bacterial and fungal infections.
Hand Sanitizing Gel
A similar formulation of our Antiseptic Spray, this product can be used as a preventative measure by keeping hands free of germs as to avoid the spread of harmful bacteria. Manuka Honey is capable of destroying microorganisms such as E. Coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Streptococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Citrobacter freundii, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, H. Pylori and MRSA. This makes Honeymark’s Hand Sanitizing Gel extremely effective as a disinfectant. Most hand gels contain alcohol to kill germs. Alcohol may kills germs but it also dries the skin out and cracks it, giving germs the opportunity to get inside where they can cause more harm than on the surface of the skin. Honeymark’s Hand Sanitizing Gel does not contain alcohol.
Antimicrobial Liquid Hand Soap
Like most hand gels, many antibacterial soaps contain alcohol as their means in which to kill germs. As stated above, alcohol is not a favorable ingredient to use on the skin. Honeymark’s Liquid Hand Soap does not contain alcohol but rather active Manuka Honey as an antimicrobial agent. Most antibacterial soaps are also not capable of destroying fungi that may be present. Manuka Honey’s antimicrobial properties ensure all unwanted microorganisms are destroyed, leaving your hands completely germ free.
Honeymark only uses medical grade active Manuka Honey in all products. There is enough Manuka Honey to be effective without being sticky. Honeymark will be releasing these new products in the Summer of 2008. Other Manuka Honey products will be released by the end of the year, such as a facial masks, antibacterial wipes, shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer, all of which will contain Manuka Honey.

Manuka Honey, Bacteria’s Worst Enemy
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Manuka honey is now being considered the most powerful weapon against infection because of the presence of extremely powerful antibacterial properties.
Even though honey has been used as a wound dressing for thousands of years, recent studies have shown that one particular type of honey seems to be more effective than others. In the beautiful, pollution-free mountains of New Zealand, a plant called the Manuka Tree grows abundantly, spawning white and pink flowers that produce a nectar that bees use to make a unique type of honey. Manuka Honey is tested for its medicinal qualities that are a result of plant-derived components, making it an extremely valuable resource. Elements such as methylglyoxal and UMF make Manuka Honey far more effective in treating infected wounds and other skin conditions than ordinary honey.
There are several reasons why Manuka Honey is ideal for medical use. Manuka Honey has an osmotic effect which draws moisture out of bacterial cells, making it impossible for the bacteria to survive. The high sugar content in Manuka Honey reduces water molecules, making it difficult for microorganisms to develop and inhibit the growth of bacteria. When moisture is drawn out of bacterial cells by osmosis, the bacteria shrivel up and die, similar to the way slugs do when salt is poured over them.
Manuka Honey is also very acidic. The low pH level in Manuka Honey inhibits the growth of pathogens. In addition, the presence of hydrogen peroxide acts as an effective antibacterial agent. The hydrogen peroxide in Manuka Honey is produced when bees add enzymes to the floral nectar. However, the hydrogen peroxide exists in a slow-release manner that is strong enough to destroy bacteria but low enough to avoid tissue damage.
Manuka Honey also has phytochemical factors which contribute to its healing ability. Some scientists believe that Methylglyoxal is responsible for Manuka Honey’s bioactive qualities while others refer to Manuka Honey’s antibacterial component as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF. Nevertheless, Manuka Honey’s ability to destroy bacteria and heal infections is unparalleled. Even hard-to-heal wounds and antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria (such as MRSA) have not been able to combat the antibacterial properties of Manuka Honey. In addition to it’s antibacterial properties, Manuka Honey also has antimicrobial properties, making it effective in treating fungal infections as well.
Because Manuka Honey has proven to be so effective in killing bacteria, it is now being used as a main ingredient in wound dressings. Honeymark, a manufacturer of Manuka honey-based skin care products has achieved great success utilizing the powerful healing properties of Manuka Honey. “Our products heal wounds infected with MRSA and clear eczema when other products have failed,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “Even fungal infections can be efficiently eradicated and it’s all because of the healing powers of Manuka Honey.”

Manuka Honey as a First Line of Defense Against Infection
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Recent studies have shed some light on the unusual antibacterial activity of a certain type of honey, leading to a greater understanding of its ability to kill pathogenic bacteria and promote healing in wounds and other skin conditions.
Manuka Honey, found in New Zealand and certain parts of Australia, is made from a plant known as Leptospermum scoparium or more commonly known as the Manuka tree. Honeybees use the nectar that is produced from the flowers of the Manuka tea tree to make this special type of honey that has been found to have extraordinary healing properties. Studies show that this Manuka Honey is effective against many different drug-resistant clinical isolates, including the notorious Golden Staph/MRSA bacterium.
There has been evidence for the medical use of honey throughout history. Almost every culture that had access to honey has utilized it as a therapeutic agent, with its use as a wound dressing being particularly common across many different cultures. The use of honey as a wound dressing stems from its antibacterial activity, usually due to the production of hydrogen peroxide. However, Manuka Honey has additional antibacterial activity due to plant-derived components such as UMF and Methylglyoxal. These additional antibacterial and antimicrobial components make Manuka Honey ideal as a topical solution for the treatment of bacterial infections, fungal infections, dermatitis and other skin conditions.
In addition to possing significant antimicrobial properties, Manuka Honey has also been shown to actively promote healing. Researchers have discovered that Manuka Honey directly stimulates human cells that are important in the immune response and in wound healing. When used topically on the skin, Manuka Honey repairs damaged skin and regenerates new tissue. It also has the ability to diffuse into the depth of skin tissue where its anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce pain.
Because Manuka Honey is indigenous to New Zealand, reports of its ability to heal have penetrated the Asian and European markets and is being regularly used in hospitals and by consumers. Recently, the word has been spreading into the U.S., predominately because of its ability to completely wipe out the MRSA bacterium and efficiently heal Staph infections where antibiotics have completely failed. Even doctors who historically prefer the use of pharmaceuticals are beginning to warm up to the idea of using this natural substance for therapeutic use.
“Despite the ancient and modern evidence suggesting an enormous potential for honey as a wound dressing, it is largely underutilized in the U.S.,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International, a manufacturer of skin care products containing active Manuka Honey as a healing agent. “With antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria emerging, Manuka Honey may become the only viable treatment solution for severe infections.”

Manuka Honey, the Natural Analgesic
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, Manuka Honey is now being used as a natural pain relieving ingredient in health care products.
Millions of people suffer from joint and muscle pain. Whether its arthritis, backaches, muscle stiffness or strains, many seek relief from pain on a daily basis. There are plenty of pain relief medications that can be purchased over-the-counter. It’s just a matter of finding which one works best for you.
There is a special type of honey that comes from New Zealand called Manuka Honey that is gaining popularity as a natural ingredient in health care products. It has been reported that Manuka Honey is effective in treating symptoms such as eczema, infected wounds, ringworm, dandruff, ulcers, etc. However, scientists are now discovering that Manuka Honey contains anti-inflammatory properties that can be used as a natural pain reliever.
Manuka Honey has the ability to penetrate the surface of the skin, diffusing into the depth of skin tissue. This enables it to reach affected areas and immediately reduce inflammation of the muscles and joints. A New York-based company called Honeymark has developed a Pain Relief Cream containing Active Manuka Honey. This product eliminates the sticky mess of applying Manuka Honey directly on the skin. In addition to Manuka Honey, it contains other valuable ingredients that contribute to its effectiveness in relieving pain, such as Camphor, Menthol, Emu oil and Almond oil.
“When used as a topical analgesic, Manuka Honey starts working immediately by reducing inflammation and pain,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “Our Pain Relief Cream provides a smooth application on the skin instead of dealing with the stickiness of plain Manuka Honey by itself.”

Using Manuka Honey to Treat Fungal Infections
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
A particular type of honey known as Manuka Honey has been found to have strong antifungal properties making it effective in treating conditions such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, nail fungus, tinea, etc.
Scientists have discovered that a mono-floral honey known as Manuka Honey has an antifungal activity. Fungal infections are one of the most common diseases of humans and are some of the most difficult to treat. Antibiotics may be effective in treating bacterial infections but they are ineffective against fungal infections. Since poor immunity is a common cause for some fungal infections, bacterial infections can also be present as well. Manuka Honey is ideal for treating this type of condition because it contains both antifungal and antibacterial properties.
In laboratory studies, it was found that the hydrogen peroxide and the non-peroxide activity in the Manuka Honey inhibited the growth of fungi. It was also found that less of a concentration of Manuka Honey was necessary than that of which is required to treat infected wounds, burns and ulcers because there is no exudation.
Nail fungus can be exceptionally difficult to treat because the nail acts as a protective layer. Most products that are sold over-the-counter only provide temporary relief because the fungus is only suppressed for a short time. However, Manuka Honey has the ability to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin where it destroys infectious bacteria and fungus spores. Fungus spores can cause infection through small breaks in the skin. Once an area of the skin has been infected with a fungus organism, decaying skin allows bacteria to multiply, causing a distinctive bad aroma from the infected area.
Since Manuka Honey is sticky and not particularly user-friendly when used on the skin, health care products manufacturer, Honeymark International, has developed an Anti-Fungal Solution containing Active Manuka Honey which is effective in treating a wide variety of fungal conditions. Honeymark’s Anti-Fungal Solution comes in a squeeze tube for easy application. “The dropper tip is a hygienic alternative to brush-on applicators which can cause the spread of further infection,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “Our special formulation makes it easier to apply Manuka Honey to the effected areas, along with other ingredients that are effective in treating fungal conditions.”

Using Manuka Honey to Treat Burns
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
A special type of honey known as Manuka Honey is now being used to effectively treat burns due to its ability to repair damaged skin.
There are many different kinds of burns. Burns can be caused by heat, cold, steam, light, radiation, friction, electric, chemicals, the sun, etc. With any type of burn, there is damage to the skin which is, in essence, a wound that needs to be healed and repaired during proper treatment.
Most burns are usually classified into 3 degrees, predicated on the depth of the skin damage. First degree burns are burns that affect the top layer of the skin, for example a blister or sun burn. Second degree burns are more serious in that deeper layers of the skin are affected, causing damage to the nerve endings and sweat glands. Third degree burns are when the fat layer, including nerves, muscles and blood vessels are affected. Fourth, fifth and sixth degree burns are far more serious.
Medical professionals are now using a special type of honey known as ‘Manuka Honey‘ to treat burns. Manuka Honey contains healing properties found in the nectar of a particular floral source, indigenous to New Zealand. Manuka Honey is effective in treating burns for several reasons. Since a burn is technically a wound, Manuka Honey’s antibacterial activity protects the burn from becoming infected. It also has the ability to repair damaged skin and regenerate new tissue. Manuka Honey also contains anti-inflammatory properties which helps in reducing the pain associated with burns.
Because Manuka Honey is so effective in treating burns, it is now being used as a main ingredient in burn treatment products. Honeymark’s First Aid Antiseptic Lotion is sold as an over-the-counter wound and burn treatment and contains Active Manuka Honey as a healing agent. “Manuka Honey is being taken very seriously in the U.S. now that new research is proving its effectiveness,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International. “Manuka Honey is an all-natural ingredient that has achieved great success in the treatment wounds and burns because of its amazing healing properties.”

The Unique Manuka Factor (UMF®)
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Manuka Honey is a special type of honey that has been found to have extraordinary healing properties and is now being used as a main ingredient in health care products because of its natural antibacterial activity.
Researchers have discovered that Manuka Honey is a superior and effective treatment for wound infections. Studies have shown that all varieties of honey have some levels of antibacterial activity, primarily due to the presence of hydrogen peroxide. However, Manuka Honey has a much higher level of activity, up to 30 times greater than that of other types of honey. The studies have shown that Manuka Honey contains an additional antibacterial component found only in honey produced from the nectar that bees gather from the flowers that grow on the Manuka bush which is indigenous to New Zealand and some parts of Australia. This other antibacterial component has become know as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF®.
There are several components that explain the antibacterial activity found in Manuka Honey. The high sugar content of Manuka Honey creates an environment in which there are very few water molecules, making it difficult for microorganisms to grow. In addition, the low pH level of Manuka Honey inhibits the growth of pathogens. During the developmental stage, bees add enzymes to the nectar to form honey. One byproduct of this enzyme is hydrogen peroxide. When Manuka Honey is diluted by wound or other bodily fluids, the enzyme activity increases, creating a slow release antiseptic that is antibacterial but does not cause tissue damage like other forms of hydrogen peroxide. The Unique Manuka Factor is an antimicrobial component that is somewhat of a phenomenon, creating an environment impossible for bacteria and other microbes to survive.
The fact that other types of honey do not posses this extra UMF® compound is what makes Manuka Honey different in terms of its ability to heal. The antibacterial properties in standard honey can be rapidly destroyed if exposed to certain conditions such as heat or light. However, the UMF® activity in Manuka Honey does not break down, resulting in the antibacterial activity remaining intact and unaffected. It is also important to know that not all Manuka Honey is considered to be active or have healing properties. It is believed that only Manuka Honey with a UMF® rating of 10 or higher is suitable for medical use. The higher the UMF® rating, the higher its antibacterial activity.
Manuka Honey’s ability to heal is so powerful that it has even been found to be effective in treating antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA and VRE. These new developments are taking the medical industry by storm as a need for alternative solutions to these life-threatening, hard-to-kill bacteria threaten our schools, hospitals and communities.
“Wound dressings made with Manuka Honey are a viable alternative to traditional forms of medicine when treating Staph infections,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International, a manufacturer of health care products containing Active UMF® Manuka Honey as a healing agent. “Our First Aid Antiseptic Lotion has been effective in treating MRSA when other products, including antibiotics, have failed.”

Manuka Honey Relieves Pain by Reducing Inflammation
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, a special type of honey known as ‘Manuka Honey’ is now being used as a viable treatment solution for individuals suffering from arthritis.
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints, resulting in pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement. Arthritis involves the breakdown of cartilage which normally protects the joint, allowing for smooth movement. Cartilage also absorbs shock when pressure is placed on the joint, for example, during walking. Without the usual amount of cartilage, the bones rub together, causing pain, swelling, inflammation and stiffness.
Joint inflammation can be due to an injury, broken bone, infection, autoimmune disease or general wear and tear on the joints. Sometime, the inflammation doesn’t go away, resulting in long-term pain. Inflammatory pain is generally felt in the hips, knees or fingers. Some risk factors to increased inflammatory pain may include being overweight, injury or overuse of a particular joint. Individuals suffering from arthritis and other inflammatory complications often experience joint pain, joint swelling, stiffness, warmth around the joint and a reduced ability to move the joint.
In treating arthritis and other forms of inflammation, eliminating the underlying cause and inflammation is necessary. Doctors and other medical professionals are now discovering that a particular type of honey called “Manuka Honey” has natural anti-inflammatory properties that are extremely effective in treating these conditions. In addition, Manuka Honey has the ability to diffuse into the depths of skin tissue so as to get to affected areas.
“Manuka Honey is an organic, all-natural substance that is more effective in relieving pain than most analgesic products that are available over-the-counter,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International which is a manufacturer of Manuka Honey products. “Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, Manuka Honey is now being considered a viable treatment option for arthritis and other muscle and joint pain.”

Manuka Honey vs. Bacterial and Fungal Infection
February 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
A unique kind of honey contains powerful antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that make it incredibly effective in combating the microorganisms responsible for infecting wounds and causing a variety of other medical conditions.
The Manuka bush (Leptospermum Scoparium) is a plant, native to New Zealand, that blooms flowers producing a unique nectar that bees use to manufacture a very special type of honey. This honey is known as ‘Manuka Honey‘ and has been used as a natural medicine for many years to treat a variety of different health conditions such as eczema, ringworm, wounds and burns. Recent studies have shown that the antibacterial activity of Manuka Honey is extremely effective, even more so than pharmaceuticals with no side effects. It contains natural antimicrobial properties that quicken the healing process and reduce scarring in badly infected wounds.
Researchers have found that wounds heal faster when treated with Manuka Honey dressings in comparison to traditional antiseptics. It has been discovered that Manuka Honey can provide a viable solution to many people living with skin and hair conditions. Dr. Peter Molan, Associate Professor in Biochemistry at the University of Waikato in New Zealand agrees that Manuka Honey has great healing qualities because of its enhanced antibacterial potency, which has become known as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF. Its antibacterial potency is even effective against antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA and VRE.
Medical Research has shown that Manuka Honey had an 85% success rate in healing infected wounds, in compared to a 50% success rate of conventional treatments. Manuka Honey is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals and protein which contribute to it’s ability to repair damaged hair and skin. Manuka Honey’s antibacterial properties are soothing and can prevent acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin infections.
“The healing properties found in Manuka Honey far supersede that of which can be found in your average health care products sold over-the-counter in pharmacies,” says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International which is a manufacturer of Manuka Honey products. “Our products have been achieving better results when used to treat conditions such as eczema, arthritis, ringworm, athlete’s foot and wounds. Unlike many pharmaceuticals, Manuka Honey is a natural ingredient that has been found to have no negative side effects.”
